Rain!/

This is a photo from the Anping area of Tainan.  I was trying to get a photo of the kites that were in the sky at the time, but it's kind of hard to see them.
I had a first experience today.  For the first time since I got to Tainan last September, it rained for real!  We've had some drizzles here and there (though few enough that I could probably count them all on one hand) but no real rain up until now.  From what I understand, this isn't so unusual since the winter monsoon winds come from the north and tend to dump all of their rain on Taipei (suckers) leaving southern Taiwan with nice, dry weather all winter.  The rain today was a bit of a wake up call though.  I need to start preparing for the heavy rain that is going to come in a month or so.  During the spring, we get the "Meiyu" rainy season that hits most of eastern Asia.  It hits Taiwan mostly in May and June, and I've been told that I can expect pretty much constant rain during that time.  That was my experience too in Nagasaki (though there it was more like June and July) but a Japanese friend emphasized to me how much it rains during the Meiyu season here, so I'm wondering if maybe Tainan is a whole 'nother level of Meiyu beyond what I'm familiar with from my time in Nagasaki.
